PHYSICS TEACHER DEVELOPMENT
Problem Statement
The problem is that there is lack of competent physical science teachers in South Africa. This results in poor pass rates in maths and
science hence low numbers of learners taking up science engineering and technology careers.
Goals And Impact
1) Improve competence of physical science teachers in South Africa (content, pedagogy, confidence, enthusiasm attracting and
keeping learners in physics) through Workshop on Teacher Development, which in turn.
2) Improve the interest and competence of high school learners to enjoy physical science and pass with better grades, ultimately
resulting in Increasing the pool of Human Capital with skills in Science, Engineering and Technology.
