STATEMENT OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS ON THE CRISIS IN UKRAINE

The South African Institute of Physics is gravely concerned at the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.  We believe in the peaceful co-existence of all people and nations and are not only saddened but deeply disturbed to see the violent upheaval and disruption of peace and normal life in Ukraine. As the active voice of the South African Physics community, the SAIP re-affirms its commitment to support and promote scientific collaboration across the world as a driver for peace and sustainable development. We call for an immediate cessation of hostilities as a prelude for an amicable resolution through mutual contact and peaceful dialogue.
