Rising Researchers Seminar Series - Invitation
Good day,
Please take note of the opportunity below.
The Rising Researchers Seminar Series provides a platform for early career researchers, such as senior Ph.D. students and postdocs in their first appointment, in the field of nuclear theory, to showcase their research to a broader scientific audience aiming to create visibility for rising researchers. The topics included, but not limited to, are:
Applications can be submitted in two ways through the website (https://sites.uw.edu/ risingresearchers/apply/). Potential participants are encouraged to apply to the seminar series with an abstract, motivation, and links to references (if applicable). Applications can be made in two ways
- Hot QCD (Eg. heavy ions)
- Cold QCD (Eg. hadron structure)
- Nuclear structure and reactions
- Nuclear astrophysics
- Fundamental symmetries and neutrinos
- Applications of quantum computing and machine learning to nuclear theory
Applications can be submitted in two ways through the website (https://sites.uw.edu/
- Firstly, one can nominate the speaker, and then the speaker is contacted by us stating that you have been nominated;
- Secondly, by applying directly without a nomination.
The applications are then categorized according to the topics mentioned above by the application coordinator and part of the process is blinded to prevent any bias. The expert committee then selects prospective speakers from a large pool of applicants, keeping in mind the career stage and academic background with the focus of allowing the under-represented candidates.
The organisers provide tips and support for the talk preparation as we want the applicants to benefit by delivering seminars in our series. The series is supported by several institutions, laboratories, and collaborations across the US and abroad and advertise the series to a mailing list of over 15 000 recipients. We encourage any eligible speakers to apply and all interested parties to attend.
